At Long Last...OVERSIGHT!

Stephen Crowley/The New York Times

Apparently what George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and the entire GOP leadership need most is a good old-fashioned spanking by a strong mother. Lucky for the country, newly elected Speaker Nancy Pelosi is just the right person for the job. You can see by the above photo how much the President and Vice President appreciate the new #3 (in line for succession to the Presidency) stopping by for a post-election visit.

While we are all still enjoying the sweeping wins of Tuesday's Democratic and progressive success all across the country, we also know the grave responsibilities that come with these wins. We know that we have very little time to convince our "Moderate", "Independent", and "Far Left" fellow citizens that our ideas and ideals are better for solving the problems we need to solve.

Not only did we already have huge problems back in 1994, when the GOP first began it's Contract ON Americans, but in the past 12 years they've added to those problems ten-fold. The most recent 6 years have been the some of the worst in our democracy's history.

So, we definitely deserve a few more days of celebrating, and catching up on sleep, housekeeping, and bill-paying. But come a week or two, it's sleeve-rolling time my friends. We've got work to do, not much time to do it in, and lots of mistakes to fix. I'm ready...are you with me?

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before
The whole human race
And I ain't gonna lose

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions
